Sleek, smart and sporty, the new 2020 Ford Escape packs a lot into one small package. The SUV is big on options, providing drivers the choice of four new propulsion choices, including two all-new hybrids, sliding second-row seats and technology like Ford Co-Pilot360.
The 2020 Ford Escape underwent a complete redesign, adding two hybrids in the process. Every model in the lineup, whether powered by one of two EcoBoost engines or the all-new hybrid powertrains, targets an EPA-estimated range of at least 400 miles per tank.The standard hybrid with front-wheel drive targets best-in-class EPA-estimated range of more than 550 miles.
Those looking to plug in to power up will appreciate the best-in-class EPA-estimated range of at least 30 miles in electric-only mode. When using a 110-volt Level 1 charge, plug in overnight (it takes 10 to 11 hours to charge) and get ready to roll the next morning. Models using a 240-volt Level 2 charge are even more efficient, with a maximum charging time of 7.5 hours.
Ford engineers analyzed the Escape and made space a priority in the SUV. Sliding second-row seats in the gas engine-powered models allow rear seat passengers to enjoy best-in-class maximum second-row legroom with the seats in the full rearward position. Backseat passengers benefit from more knee clearance and footwell length.
And because part of an SUV’s job is to haul things as well as people, the 2020 Ford Escape can accommodate four sets of golf clubs or a full-size dog crate.
The 2020 Ford Escape gets valedictorian honors for its smart systems that allow a driver to tailor their experience behind-the-wheel. The SUV’s modes are tailored for normal, eco, sport and slippery, plus snow and sand conditions if necessary.
Titanium Escape owners will be the first to experience the all-new heads-up display that projects information onto a 6-inch screen, giving drivers easy access to important information such as vehicle speed without taking their eyes off the road. It’s first for any Ford vehicle in North America, and an example of the Escape’s technological prowess.
Other smart elements include Active Park Assist 2.0 and Evasive Steering Assist. Active Park Assist 2.0 allows drivers to park in a parallel or perpendicular spot with the touch of a button, without having to work the steering wheel, gear shifter, gas or brake pedal.
Evasive Steering Assist detects a slower-moving or stationary vehicle ahead and provides steering support that can assist the driver to avoid an imminent collision. The Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard in every Escape, and makes available other driver-assist features such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane-Centering.
